Please strictly follow these simple care instructions for the healing process of this tattoo to ensure maximum results and to avoid any errors.
You will have been informed how long to keep your bandage on.
Generally, about 2+hours for line work, 4+ hours for light colour/shading, or 6-8 hours for heavy colour/shading.
*It is important to leave the bandage on to let your tattoo close before it’s exposed, as well as with colour and shading it will help draw out the liquid that sits under your skin and creates swelling, alleviating pain.*
Take off your bandage after this time.
Wash your tattoo with clean hands, warm water, and liquid antibacterial hand soap. Do not use hot water, or bar soap. Do not soak your tattoo or run it under water for more than a few minutes.
Pat dry with a new, clean paper towel.
Apply a thin layer of non-scented non-coloured hand lotion only as needed; do not let the area become moist. No or minimal lotion should be needed for the first 1-3 days, depending on your skin.
Repeat this process morning and night, and any time after your tattoo is exposed to dirt, sweat, or any outside elements. Apply lotion only as needed to prevent dryness. Your tattoo shouldn’t be kept too moist, or too dry. It should be the same as the rest of your skin.
No swimming, suntanning or soaking for 2 weeks. This does not mean you can’t shower, but you can’t soak. No hot tubs, try to avoid unclean conditions as much as humanly possible. Wear clean, loose-fitting clothing, nothing that irritates the skin or that may hinder healing.
